After Gemma drops me off at home, I touch up the pictures I took of her sculptures and email several options to her so she can pick the ones for her portfolio. I only look at the photo of August’s poem once every five minutes or so. It’s cued up on my phone, ready to post a story on my Insta, but I can’t. If anyone knows he’s the artist behind it, there’ll be questions.

Questions I can’t answer.

The smart thing to do is pretend like I didn’t see it at all. But if I’ve proven anything with my decisions lately, it’s that I’m not smart when it comes to August. There’s something about him that makes me want to be reckless. To throw away everything I’ve been building with Ren and give us a chance instead.

I’ve been chasing love for so long, what if August’s it and I’m too wrapped up in old feelings for Ren to see it?

Then there are Ren’s feelings. Not for me but for Lana. He may never love me the way I want. One thing’s for sure though. If I post this picture of August’s poem, he’ll know I’m having second thoughts about our broken hearts club pact and about wanting to get over August.

I discard the draft post, the artist in me crying at having to keep the poem to myself. It’s too beautiful to go unacknowledged though. I type out a message to August.
